July 29th, 2015

An occasional gift to your loved one or a small one just to brighten up someone’s day has its own special place amongst the categories of “heart touching gestures”. But if you want to highlight a particular day or event, or if you want to honour or thank someone from the bottom of your heart, your heart and walk the extra mile to choose a truly spectacular gift. Did you know that by choosing the hamper delivery in UK option, you are going that extra distance but with aplomb because you are not gifting just one item but a bunch of them? With really attractive packaging being used by most delivery companies, you are adding a figurative bow to your surprise as well!

Gift baskets or hampers are not new to the world of gifting. Our ancestors from ancient times have been following this method to please the royalty and their favoured people alike. Did you know that the great man Moses himself was placed in a wicker basket and then hidden by his mother so a Greek royalty would bring him up with all the comforts she wanted him to have? She put all her love and hopes in that basket and placed her son in it. Apart from being used for gifting purposes, baskets have also been used for many everyday activities such as for shopping, arranging flowers in them, transporting certain food types such as berries and fish, as a container for the odds and ends lying about in a person’s house and creating home decorative items. As the uses of baskets increased, so was the quality of the baskets improved. They were also made to look more attractive with the use of colours, beads, glittering threads, lace, satin or velvet patches or rainbows on the baskets and lining the inside of the basket with attractive fabrics such as muslin or pretty net. Baskets are traditionally made by hand, but there are several companies which have also started manufacturing gift baskets.

Gift hampers need not always be sent in a basket but can also be sent in other containers made of wood, ceramic, glass, porcelain, stones such as marble, etc. It depends on the items being gifted, the distance they have to travel and the amount you can pay for them. Be assured, in each variety of the hampers’ containers, there are plenty of varieties you can choose from. Some of them have clean, simple lines that will please a simple soul whereas some of them are a riot of colours and embellishments that will make an artistic person’s heart flutter with joy. Some of them are hand-crafted whereas some are manufactured by machines. Most companies, that sells gifts and offers to transport them to distances near and far, have a stock of such hamper containers that their customers can choose from simultaneously. So, rather than buying the gifts from one place and getting them packed in another, you have pre-prepared hampers that have a number of items already in them. Some of them can be modified by customers whereas some are fixed hampers.

Ace the art of making hampers at home

June 23rd, 2015

It might seem simple but it isn’t. Making a hamper can be quite a task. When making a hamper basket at home, there are things you need to keep in mind. Hence, check this out: –

  • Prep: -Two days or few days advance preparation is required. You cannot run around in a day and find ribbons, wrappers and a big basket. Plus, if you are including some gifts which you are buying some outside then buy it in advance and once you have collected all the needful items, sit down and prepare.
  • Make a list: -Once you have all the items, make a list. You can do this before too. But after the things have come, check what else is needed and how you are going to go about it. Plan it well and don’t just plan it in the head. If you want label items which need to put in order.
  • Decide a theme: –Yes, this is a cute idea. Decide a theme for the hamper. This will make your work of thinking of gifts easier. You can make the basket of several themes like, movies, spa, song, fiction, TV series, food, gardening, sports and many others.
  • Budget: -Decide your budget too. Remember if you are sending hamper delivery in UK then the money of it will cost you too. Plus do not go over to the top if your budget is restricting you. Make sure everything fits your bill well. For a food related hamper, you can bake or try making all the items at home. And cookies will hardly cost anything. If you are going the fancier way then calculate all the rates and then decide which theme and things to pick up or include.
  • The items: -The contents have been decided and now you have to know how to put them. If you are baking things then decide something that will last long and they can store it for days. Do not go complicated when it comes to cakes and other desserts. The leaking sauce or chocolate can ruin the hamper. Assemble all the items in one place and label them. Make little notes for each of them and put it.
  • Containers: –Finding the appropriate container can be an issue. See which boxes are good and will not break while delivering items across the countries. Pack the gifts well in the containers. And put the notes you wrote in the previous step on them with a thread. Make sure you seal the containers well.
  • The final part: –In this step, you have to check your list and see if the packing is fine and looks decorative. If not then add some decorations on the basket too. Do not forget to paste a gift card on top of basket. Once you are done wrapping it, check again!

These homemade hacks are your Savior. Since you are designing your own hamper, you can always rearrange it till it is sent.
