November 16th, 2015

If you are a diehard fan of chocolates, then you should celebrate it every day. Did you know that there was something like a chocolate river once upon a time! Crazy, right! If you want to know about such amazing and crazy facts, then keep on reading.

1. There used to be a chocolate river! In 1971, there was a famous chocolate river. It was similar to the one shown in the Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory movie. It was made with around 15,000 gallons of water mixed with lots of chocolates and cream. Due to the cream in the river, it started stinking and this is why the river doesn’t exist anymore.

2. Europeans adore and love chocolates a lot. According to a research and survey done, it is said that Europeans are the ones who consume half the count of the total count of chocolate consumption around the world. The next in the list are Americans.

3. Our favourite chocolate chip cookies were just an accident! Ruth Wakefield, who is the founder of chocolate chip cookies, realised that she didn’t have any bakers chocolate so she mixed broken pieces of Nestle chocolate in the cookie dough. This had to get absorbed in the dough but instead they turned out to be chocolate chips post baking. This is how she created the chocolate chip cookies. She sold this to the company Nestle and in return took a lifetime supply of chocolates.

4. Potato chips in chocolate used to exist! As a part of their limited edition series, Lays decided to take crisps of potato chips and dip them in milk chocolate. This was supposed to be the perfect crispy, salty, sweet and chocolate filled chips ever. Apparently, the chocolates kept melting and made the chips wet which is why this idea didn’t work much.

5. Toblerones are currently the most eaten chocolates or at least the most purchased ones! Everyone while travelling always picks up Toblerones when they are at the airport. There so many bars sold every year that if you put all the sold ones side by side, they go longer than the circumference of the planet Earth!

6. Cocoa helps to fight tooth decay. Yes, you read right. Pure cocoa wards off tooth decays because they have natural chemicals, which help fight every bacterium in the mouth. You can add a little amount of pure cocoa to your toothpaste to keep decay away.

7. If you love chocolate, then you are going through chemical love. Chocolates have this chemical known as phenyl ethylamine, which releases good and pleasure endorphins into the brain. This makes people feel good about everything from inside and out. According to science, this is the similar endorphins in the brain when we are madly in love. Hence, chocolate is chemical love! Who needs a partner when you have chocolates, right?

We are guessing these facts did astonish all the chocolate lovers out there. So, send chocolates by post and spread tons of happiness. Don’t forget to add these facts while sending chocolate gifts.

Keeping the Gift Chocolaty and Simple

November 7th, 2015

Who doesn’t love chocolates? Almost everyone around the globe has lust for these little brown sweet things. There are some crazy people out there, who even can’t live without chocolates. Chocolates are wonderful in every possible way and they are sweeter if you share them with someone and even sweeter when you receive them as a gift. The very idea of receiving chocolates by post is enchanting for many. While selecting gifts can be a daunting task, but selecting chocolates for your loved ones is easy, you can walk in a store, choose their favourite chocolates, pay and then walk out with a smile, as simple as that.

Okay! It might be a simple thing to do but before selecting and buying the chocolates, you should keep in mind few practical things and they can be of great help. Festive season is just around the corner and a lot of chocolates can be found in stores but not all are good when it comes to the quality, rate and taste.

  • Choose the best quality chocolates

Although chocolates will be chocolates irrespective of brands but you should not compromise on the richness of chocolate. Also, you must choose the best shape as they are one of the key factors while sending them by post. Avoid sending chocolates that are fragile and can melt easily. For example, take the case of soft candies, they are one of the most tempting chocolates available in the market, but they are not good for sending them by post to your loved ones as they can be broken easily and will arrive on the scene with broken pieces, with much disappointment to everyone’s eyes. Moreover, chocolates need refrigeration before consumption, so do make a note of that as well.

  • Cut down on the prices using these simple methods

Chocolates can cost you a good fortune if you buy them for almost everyone without availing any offers. They are the perfect gift undoubtedly but if cut down a bit on the pricing, it would be an icing on the cake. There are several discounts in super markets on chocolates if you buy them in bulk. This way, you can buy the gifts for everyone and save a bit on it as well. There are plenty of offers on Swiss chocolates if you buy them online.

  • Do not forget to attach a personal note

A specially written note has more significance for people than you can think of. It shows that you didn’t just pick out and mail the gifts but also took time to write a lovely heartfelt wish for them. Even if you write only a line or two it will be worthwhile. Remember, it is always the thought that counts. Your gift won’t just be unique and stand out among others; it will also have a touch of genuineness to it.

That’s it! Once you have posted them, your part is done. Wait for your friends and relatives to receive it and although you cannot see the bright and big smile that it brings to their face, you can imagine how it must have been a total surprise for them. The happiness and joy that they feel, that is the real essence of the festival. It would have been meaningless without it.

A chocolate gift is one of the most delicious gifts for your loved one. They are sweet and satisfying. A homemade recipe adds to the charm of chocolate. There are many recipes that you can make at home and then gift them. My favourite is Dark Chocolate and Banana Truffles, and I am going to share that recipe to you.

Dark Chocolate and Banana Truffles

Ingredients:

Centre:

  • 170 grams of dark chocolate
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup mashed ripe banana

Coating:

  • 225 grams of chopped dark chocolate
  • 1-2 teaspoon of cocoa butter which is optional

Recipe:

Take a round cake pan and line it with aluminium foil. Take a heat proof bowl, and put in it your finely chopped chocolates. Warm the cream in a sauce pan but don’t let it boil. Pour that cream over your chopped chocolate, let it sit for some thirty seconds and then stir it until it gets smooth. Put this mixture in a food processor and add banana to it. Churn until smooth and the stir in the vanilla extract. Now pour this mixture into your prepared cake pan. Smooth the top of it with a plastic and let it stay refrigerated for at least 4 hours, even better if you let it be overnight.

Remove the cake pan from your fridge and gently lift the frozen chocolate cake with the foil and gently remove the top plastic sheet. With a cookie cutter, cut out the pieces from the whole block. Arrange it on a baking sheet lined with parchment. Now, gentle melt the chocolate but don’t let it overheat. Using a fork, dip each of your chocolate banana cookie in the melted chocolate and then keep then on another parchment lined baking sheet. Sprinkle on them some decorations before the chocolate hardens. You can use it for a week by storing it in fridge.

On a second thought, I think I can tell you another of my favourite recipe which is Fudge Brownie Cheesecake Bites. These are pretty easy to make.

Fudge Brownie Cheesecake Bites

Buy one cheesecake and scoop it along with the crust. Put it on the wax paper and refrigerate it for 20-30 minutes. Now put a pan with water over gas foil boiling. In another heat safe bowl, put the chocolate for melting. Make sure the boiling water doesn’t get to touch the pan with the chocolate. Take out the cheese cake and gently roll it in to balls. Now dip these in melted chocolate. Repeat the same process with each of the scoop. Let the chocolate set at room temperature first and then put it in the fridge to set. These are ready to satisfy your sweet tooth.
