Make walking easy in Peripheral Artery Disease with Dark Chocolate.

The crazeof sweets is equally popular among kids and adults. The type and kind do vary. But you hardly find anyone who says that we don’t like to eat sweet in any form. It can be candies, jellies, chocolates, toffies, filled candies, butter cream sweets and the list goes on. That why sweet hampers is becoming one of the most widely loved gift on many occasion specially for birthday

The dark chocolate is sometimes have given the least preference because of its bitter taste. It is said that you slowly have to develop taste for it if you don’t like it at all. But the great fact is that the bitter dark chocolate has wrapped in it many health benefits. There benefits actually came from the cocoa beans. Dark chocolate being highly rich in cocoa beans provide the maximum cocoa other than milk chocolate and white chocolate which have more milk, butter and sugar.

There is also a great research done on the effect of Dark chocolate on the patients of  Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD). There made two groups, one is giving with the dark chocolate and the other is not. The research was published in  Journal of the American Heart Association conclude that the people  were able to walk longer distances independently after consuming dark chocolate as opposed to mere milk chocolate. There is a special chemical  called polythenols which is found in strawberries, red cabbage,  purple grapes is also found in dark chocolate. The polythenols have great health benefits like reducing high blood pressure, making blood thin and facilitate in heart diseases, control insulin level in diabetes and many more, but this new aspect of this chemical is so convincing which gives a good rating to the food rich in it specially dark chocolate.

The study has a sample size of 50, it include both men and women and aged between 60-78. with the condition, which can cause pain and cramps that make walking extremely difficult. The process followed is like this, giving milk and dark chocolate on the alternative dates and then allowing the patients to used treadmill, and the results were recorded. , it was observed that those who ate the dark chocolate walked 11 percent farther and 15 percent longer, or 39 feet farther and approximately 17 seconds longer, compared to the milk chocolate eaters. The dark chocolate contained over 85 percent cocoa content while the milk chocolate had less than 30 percent. Moreover the study also showed that the stress level also reduced to the patient on the day they consume dark chocolate and the dark chocolate also increase blood flow to the leg which result in feeling stranger legs that day.

Thus this research is real good news for the patients of Peripheral Artery Disease, as it’s really a challenging job for them to walk. So it’s good to include a little piece of a dark chocolate every day in the diet, its harmless as compared to the medicines and will help body in many different ways.
