July 24th, 2015

Making a birthday cake for kids might seem simple but it isn’t. Your kids expect a lot from their birthday cakes, and you need to know their choices well. You need to add some designing techniques and decorating skills to the cakes to perfect them and to make them unique. So here are some tips to make the right cake for children.

Stick with basic flavors: Every kid loves chocolate and vanilla. So, it is the best if you stick to that and concentrate on making an out and out chocolate or vanilla cake. Though kids are becoming adventurous with tastes these days yet these two flavors are always a win-win situation when baking for a kid.

Make it colorful: Yes, lots and lots of color. If you want you can design it too with their favorite color. Add sprinkles, rainbow colors, make buttercream of different colors between the layers of the cake. This might take time but it is all worth it in the end. No parent wants to see their child disappointed. So throw in some bright colors and bring a smile to their faces.

Make it sweet: Do not opt for dark chocolate for a kid. They love milk chocolates and sweet things. You can add cookies, chocolate pieces and many other sweetish things to make the cake sweet and delicious. Keep in mind the preference of the child and bake it. Make fun designs with candies and chocolate icing.

Customize it: You can make a cake with a template in mind. You can design it and personalize it with their favorite movie, character, color, football team or toy. You can make cartoon characters or their own pictures on the cakes too. A lot of times, people also design animal shaped cakes. You can do that too. It will take tons of time but the effort will pay off in the end. If not, you can always order it online or buy it from the store. Personalize the cake as much as you can. Kids love that!

Create it magically: You can add layers, colors, decorations and you can experiment further. You can make a phone shaped cake or a waffle shaped cake. A well-known illusion cake is the waffle cake with a hot air balloon floating above it. Everything is edible and looks incredible.

While you are creating cakes, do not forget fancy candles too. A birthday cake is incomplete without candles. Place a single candle on the cake so that the cake isn’t too spoil with tons of candles on it. Whatever you make, keep in mind to start early if you know it will take tons of time. If you are not much of a baker or do not have so much time to make all this, then you can order birthday cakes online too. You will find a wide range of different shapes, styles and customized cakes on the internet. So, do not worry or hassle with the birthday cake. Internet is here to help!

Go orange with cake!

Yes, you read right. The headline could be confusing but do not worry, we are just giving out a wonderful new recipe of an amazing orange and chocolate sponge cake. It sounds easy right? Well, it is. And if you are not a fan of baking, then you can order this cake online from any of the reputed seller.

This two layered sponge cake is like heaven in the mouth. It is tasty and is healthy too. The orange extract comes from real oranges, so make sure you buy the fruit from the store. Let’s start creating this nourishing cake:

Items you need:

  • 100 grams butter
  • 50 grams cocoa powder
  • 90 ml boiling water
  • three large eggs
  • 4 tablespoon milk
  • 175 grams flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 300 grams powder sugar
  • one grated Orange

For the icing, you need:

  • 150 grams chocolate pieces
  • 150 ml cream
  • 3 tablespoons of apricot jam
  • And 100 grams dark chocolate for the decoration.

Here is how you have to bake:

1. The first basic step when you bake is to pre heat your oven. For this sponge cake, pre heat to 180 degrees.

2. Now, take round baking tins and grease them with some butter. If you want, you can use baking paper too.

3. To make the cake, take cocoa and add it in boiling water in a bowl. Make it into a fine paste and add the other ingredients and beat it fast. If you have a food processor, you can use that too. But make sure it isn’t too thin.

4. Divide this mixture into the two greased tins evenly. Now bake it for 20 to 25 minutes in the same temperature. Check if the sponges have become puffy and are coming out from the sides of the baking pans. Now take out the tins from the oven and take out the cakes in a plate and let it cool.

5. Now it is icing time. For the icing and the inside filling, put the chocolates and cream in a container. Let it melt for over 10 minutes on the gas or place this container under hot water. Do not put water in the bowl. Keep stirring it while on flame. Let it cool and become thick so that you can spread it well on the cakes.

6. To finish up the procedure, smudge the apricot jam on top of both sponge cakes. Now put some icing on one cake and the other on top of the second sponge cake. Cover the upper part of the cake with rest of the icing which is leftover. Now scatter some chocolate curls or small pieces on top which we kept aside for decoration. And once this is done, place the cake in the fridge for some time, and it is ready to service and binge on.

This cake can be a great dish for birthdays too. If you are not a baker or hate it, then order birthday cakes online and provide your loved ones with a healthy birthday treat.
