February 5th, 2018

Birthdays are a very special occasion especially if it is your child who is celebrating their young, innocent years. The celebration is usually grand and will be memorable for all those who are invited ranging from close family members, your kid’s friends, their parents, etc.

The first 10 years is usually when a birthday party is expected every year as the child is very young and excited during their birthday. Essential elements in their birthday include the birthday cakes, send chocolates to his/her friends at school, throwing a theme party, including good food, etc.

The most important food items to be considered for a birthday party are:

  1. Cake

A cake is an essential item as it marks any kind of celebration. Your kid will be the most excited about the cake cutting as it will be his or her first step towards a year older version of them. They also like it if their cake looks very attractive, hence you could customize it to a certain shape or flavor according to what your child enjoys. It could be a cartoon, a character, a book, a theme, among many other ideas.

Kids have a big appetite which will keep resurfacing during the party several times. Hence, always keep the munchies stacked up with chips, goodies, and other food items which is easy to eat and also healthy and light for the stomach. You wouldn’t want parents being worried about a stomach upset with the range of food items kept in front of them. Always have a healthy balance.

A birthday party is incomplete without cake and chocolates. Kids love candies so you could have bowls of candies that they could choose from or have games that lets the winner choose their chocolates as part of the celebration. If some kids were unable to attend the party, you could send some birthday chocolates by post so that they don’t regret missing the party.

  1. Main course

If you are hosting a brunch, lunch or dinner, then there might be a few choices that you need to be careful about. Allergies are common in kids when it comes to dairy, peanuts and some fruits or vegetables. Hence, you must try to make sure you avoid these items and keep the food items healthy, attractive and also delicious.

  1. Juice

This is an interesting option to have at a kids birthday party as children tend to get very thirsty, easily. You could keep a counter for fresh juice so that they remain energetic as well as hydrated. You could also keep sodas and other attractive cocktails for the parents to ensure that they don’t get bored while watching out for their kids.

These are some of the few options to keep in mind while making a list of general food items required for a kid’s birthday party. You could be more specific in terms of cuisines and options keeping in mind the guest list.
