Cake with the goodness of fruits

Fruit cake is the most traditional recipe one can hear about. It has been made through centuries across different countries. Various recipes have been discovered so far. Sometimes it is made of candy fruits, sometimes with dry fruits and sometimes with raw pieces of fruits also. Be it on birthdays or other family occasions, fruit cakes are the first choice. Fruit cakes are mainly of two types – light fruit cake and dark fruit cake. The main ingredients used in a light fruit cake are light corn syrup, granulated sugar, raisins, almonds, pineapple and apricots. Dark fruit cakes are made of brown sugar, dark coloured fruits like dates, cherries and walnuts.

Christmas Wreath Cake: It is, of course, made keeping the occasion in mind. A wreath shaped cake full of seasonal fruits. Cherry is a must in this cake to make it look more colourful.

Jewelled Fruit Cake: It is made of dates, maraschino, sliced pineapple, peach and a small quantity of brandy. It is mainly made for Thanksgiving Days, but you can enjoy it any time.

Boiled Fruit Cake: The name suggests that it tastes yummy when served hot and soft. Dates and cherries are used as toppings. The batter contains eggs, flour and butter and is baked very softly.

Christmas cake: This cake is very rich and soft in nature. It is a moist cake, which has a coating of almond paste on it. The other ingredients are vanilla cream, fudge, egg and butter.

Jamaican Fruit Cake: This is especially for the ardent fruit lovers. Made of cherries, walnuts and dates, the main ingredient for this cake is Jamaican white rum or red wine, which gives a bitter rich taste to it.

Barm Brach: This type of fruit cake was originated in Ireland. It is also a rich cake made of dates and cherries. It is served hot with a slice of butter on the top of it.

Sugarless Fruit Cake: Pineapple, cranberries and coconut are mixed together with baking powder and butter to make a soft batter. Sugar is not used in it. Instead of that artificial sweetener, honey can be used.

Kentucky Bourbon Cake: This cake tastes best if it is made at least a month earlier and stored in a freezer. Do not get surprised. It is kept in a bowl full of whiskey for a whole month and that is the specialty of this cake.

Jam Cake: It is as easy as a normal fruit cake recipe. One just has to use fruit jam in the batter to give it a jelly effect.

Texas Brazil nut Fruit Cake: It is made of whole fruits and nuts. Nothing is chopped and mixed in the batter. As a result, it is a big and heavy one.
