Amazing Ways to Celebrate Christmas

July 29th, 2015

Come holiday season and particularly Christmas, there is an air of festivity and bonhomie in the air. You can enjoy all the traditional ways to celebrate Christmas like putting up Christmas tree, lighting up your home, singing carols, exchanging gifts and enjoying a Christmas feast.

But there are some different ways to celebrate Christmas. Here are a few ideas:

  • Avoid the gift exchange: When you have large family exchanging gifts can break the bank. So this Christmas, why not skip this tradition and replace it with a common celebration-like going together for a movie, a play, a game or a restaurant.
  • Tasty strings: Get together as family or friends and string up some cranberries and popcorn and enjoy watching an animated Xmas special like a Charlie Brown Xmas.
  • Go the cultural way: How about celebrating Christmas just like a particular culture, say Swedish or Irish with its own special activities and treats. This will be a really interesting experience for the whole family.
  • Live nativity scene: Get your youth group to stage a live nativity scene in your church on a particular day and get an admiring audience from near and far.
  • Photo fun: For some nostalgic fun moments, why not take out photos of old Christmas celebrations and share a fun time with friends and family.
  • Take a vacation: How about leaving your home for a small getaway. It may be to a beach resort or a mountain cabin or somewhere the whole family can enjoy.
  • Watch Christmas lights: Pile up your whole family into a car and go round the town watching Christmas lights in homes, shops and malls.
  • Treat teachers: Place anonymous notes inside the tables of your teachers expressing your gratitude, in order to make their Christmas special.
  • Craft a nativity scene: Make a nativity scene out of snow or out of sand if you live near a beach.
  • Volunteer: Extend your helping hand like providing bath to all animals in a local animal shelter. You can also volunteer at a local shelter for homeless, aged or ill persons and make the day of the inmates really special. Buy cake online for them.
  • Change main course: The usual course for Christmas is Turkey or ham. Why not go in for something different like a heavy brunch or Christmas chicken. Why not go in for sea-food buffet?
  • Shopping day: Go Christmas shopping for parents with your siblings. After you have bought all the gifts, rest some place to watch other Christmas shoppers.
  • Spend time with grandparents:  Make a meal or hot cocoa for your grandparents and listen to their stories of past Christmases.
  • Silent prayer time: Visit your church when it is empty, light a candle and spend a quiet hour of prayer and reflection.
  • Family treat: Do something as a family group like organizing a church pageant or building a float for the town parade.
  • Twelve days of Christmas: Instead of focusing on Christmas day, organize a Christmas week where you give each other small but special gifts in the 12 days before Christmas.

These are some interesting ideas for celebrating this Christmas.
