Weird things you didn’t know about chocolates!

If you are a diehard fan of chocolates, then you should celebrate it every day. Did you know that there was something like a chocolate river once upon a time! Crazy, right! If you want to know about such amazing and crazy facts, then keep on reading.

1. There used to be a chocolate river! In 1971, there was a famous chocolate river. It was similar to the one shown in the Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory movie. It was made with around 15,000 gallons of water mixed with lots of chocolates and cream. Due to the cream in the river, it started stinking and this is why the river doesn’t exist anymore.

2. Europeans adore and love chocolates a lot. According to a research and survey done, it is said that Europeans are the ones who consume half the count of the total count of chocolate consumption around the world. The next in the list are Americans.

3. Our favourite chocolate chip cookies were just an accident! Ruth Wakefield, who is the founder of chocolate chip cookies, realised that she didn’t have any bakers chocolate so she mixed broken pieces of Nestle chocolate in the cookie dough. This had to get absorbed in the dough but instead they turned out to be chocolate chips post baking. This is how she created the chocolate chip cookies. She sold this to the company Nestle and in return took a lifetime supply of chocolates.

4. Potato chips in chocolate used to exist! As a part of their limited edition series, Lays decided to take crisps of potato chips and dip them in milk chocolate. This was supposed to be the perfect crispy, salty, sweet and chocolate filled chips ever. Apparently, the chocolates kept melting and made the chips wet which is why this idea didn’t work much.

5. Toblerones are currently the most eaten chocolates or at least the most purchased ones! Everyone while travelling always picks up Toblerones when they are at the airport. There so many bars sold every year that if you put all the sold ones side by side, they go longer than the circumference of the planet Earth!

6. Cocoa helps to fight tooth decay. Yes, you read right. Pure cocoa wards off tooth decays because they have natural chemicals, which help fight every bacterium in the mouth. You can add a little amount of pure cocoa to your toothpaste to keep decay away.

7. If you love chocolate, then you are going through chemical love. Chocolates have this chemical known as phenyl ethylamine, which releases good and pleasure endorphins into the brain. This makes people feel good about everything from inside and out. According to science, this is the similar endorphins in the brain when we are madly in love. Hence, chocolate is chemical love! Who needs a partner when you have chocolates, right?
