Learn About The Different Exotic Fruits

Apple, banana and orange are the kind of fruits you can spot all the time in the grocery store. Such familiar fruits are in most places around the world, but have you heard about persimmon, durian, pomelo and lychee? Recognising these fruits can be a task but before that there’s a high probability that you’ve never even heard of them before this.

Such exotic fruits are mostly found in parts of Southeast Asia and are also imported to Asian food stores all around the world. Some of them might look weird but they are absolutely delicious.

  1. Rambutan (Chom Chom): Chom Chom is an intimidating looking fruit with spiky hairs that looks like it’s out there to hurt you but remember that what’s inside it is absolutely beautiful so you might as well ignore those spiky hairs and just drown yourself im the juicy, soft and pale interior.
  2. Durian: When you’re talking about exotic fruits, can Durian be left far behind? Durian is a very unique fruit which has such a pungent smell that your building can start stinking up thanks to it. A lot of people think of the smell as beautiful and intoxicating and some can’t bear the  If you can  brave the smell and try out a piece, you can decide for yourself which camp you belong to. Durian doesn’t smell as much and is delicious when added to ice creams, which is why it makes a great addition to fruit basket gifts.
  3. Mangosteen: When it comes to funny looking fruits, can Mangosteen be left far behind? Mangosteen has a combination flavour that is sweet and tangy. The outer skin is tough and it takes a while to reach the white flesh through the tough skin. However if you manage to do it, you’ll see how the flavour is worth every inch of exertion. This fruit is known to be addictive and the health benefits associated with it are huge so even if you’re a Mangosteen addict you won’t really be in too much trouble.
  4. Longan: Longan is a great superfruit and just like Chom chom it resembles the lychee with juicy, translucent inner. It grows in clusters like grapes which means that you can’t just eat one at a time.
  5. Persimmon: Persimmon resembles a tomato but its flavour is very different. It has a firm flesh, it is sweet and can please everybody. All you need to do is, slice it up and enjoy it or wait for the fruit to become softer. Then it develops an even sweeter taste, which will remind you of dates.
  6. Jackfruit: Jackfruit is a big fruit. It is the largest fruit when it comes to tree born fruits and can weigh upto 80 pounds. Jackfruit is extremely versatile and can be used in both sweet and savoury preparations. You can even get jackfruit in dry chips form. All these fruits can be added in luxury fruit hampers and given to a loved on.
