If You Haven’t Eaten Them, You’re Missing Out

October 16th, 2018

There are a number of exotic fruits out there and the best part is that so many of them still haven’t travelled all the way to your mouth. If that is the case then given below are a few fruits that are an absolute must and you must immediately try them at least once in your lifetime.

  1. Dragon fruit: Dragon fruit is one of the most beautiful fruits out there. Sharp looking with uneven  edges, this fruit comes off as a surprise because of how subtle it is in flavour. It is a little sour, little sweetie and has a very creamy texture. You can eat it as it is or just add a little bit of sweetner or flavouring and you’re good to go. Dragon fruit is also the national  fruit of Vietnam.
  2. Starfruit: If you’ve never eaten a star fruit then you’ve missed out on the sheer joy of eating something that looks like a star when sliced. Starfruit is very tasty and with added flavours is reminds you of citrus plums and fruits which you can pop into your mouth without worrying about the skin and seeds.
  3. Passion fruit: Passion fruit is an apt name given to the kind of fruit that simply bursts with freshness and flavour. It is the most apt name given to such a tart and sweet  gem of a fruit. Such a type of fruit should be a pantry staple. It can be easily converted into a part of both deserts and day to day savoury dishes. It can bring a very refreshing touch to anything you add it to, including a number  of cocktails that this fruit can lift up. Pomelo in basket of fruit is very common.
  4. Pomelo: Pomelo almost looks like a grapefruit but only 6 times bigger in size. One could call it a grapefruit on steroids. As soon as you get through the out layer, thick and intimidating, you get juicy and big citrus parts that should convince you that it’s pomelo and not grapefruit that is the better relative.
  5. Guava: Guava also known as the poor man’s apple is refreshing and sweet. This fruit can be very easily chopped up and enjoyed on its own or it can be added to salads and a number of other dishes. This will completely bowl over your guests because in non-tropical regions, guava is pretty much rare.
  6. Tamarind: When we talk about exotic fruits, tamarind takes the lead. It has a flavour that’s tangy, mildly sweet and very sour. If you want to know what is the founding stone of Indian and Southeast Asian cuisine, it’s tamarind. Tamarind chutney is a staple accompaniment with a lot of Indian snacks. You can buy the tamarind fresh, or get a pre-made paste or just buy tamarind
  7. Water apple: This exotic fruit is also known as thai wax apple, rose apple and bell fruit. It’s shaped up like a pear and tastes kind of like watermelon. It’s a common fruit in fruit basket gifts because the water content is high and the flavour that comes out is not just crisp but has a refreshing flavour as well.
